Indian Horse, adapted from the novel by acclaimed Canadian author Richard Wagamese, follows the life of Saul Indian Horse for 30 years. In the film, Saul is deprived of his Native Canadian heritage at a residential school, survives life amongst 1970s racism, and finds refuge on the ice when he discovers his talent and passion for hockey. As an adult, Saul must continue to find his own path as he battles stereotypes and alcoholism.
